Build your neurocritical care career where advanced clinical judgment, procedural skill, and compassionate patient advocacy directly influence outcomes for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions.

Join a highly collaborative APP team caring for patients across the Nerancy Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. This role offers continuity across the critical care journey, close partnership with attending physicians and residents, and an individualized path toward clinical autonomy.

The position follows a rotating schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week, with one additional 12-hour shift required each month. Scheduling includes day shifts, night shifts, evening shifts (1:00 p.m. to midnight), and required weekend and holiday coverage. The team offers meaningful scheduling flexibility, including the ability to concentrate shifts around nights, weekends, or other preferred patterns when operationally feasible.

The Role

As an Advanced Practice Provider in the NNICU and NIMU, you will manage primarily adult patients with high-acuity neurological and neurosurgical needs. The patient population includes individuals experiencing stroke, neurological injury, post-TNK care, complex spine surgery, elective neurosurgery, and conditions requiring ICU-level management.

By working across both units, you can follow patients through multiple phases of hospitalization, strengthening continuity, clinical ownership, and relationships with patients and families.

Your practice will include:

  • Developing evidence-based plans of care and responding to rapidly changing clinical conditions
  • Building proficiency and autonomy in critical care procedures
  • Providing clear, compassionate communication to patients and families navigating traumatic diagnoses, neurological injuries, and chronic pain
  • Advocating for holistic, family-centered care
  • Contributing to the education and orientation of new providers and rotating residents as your expertise develops
  • Participating actively in a supportive, team-oriented clinical environment

Critical care experience is strongly preferred, particularly within neurocritical care, Neuro ICU, MICU, or another ICU environment. New graduate APPs may also be considered and supported through an extended orientation. Onboarding is individualized, typically lasting approximately six months for new graduates and three months for experienced providers, with a strong focus on clinical knowledge, procedural development, feedback, and progressive independence.
