Position Purpose
At Saint Mary’s Hospital’s Emergency Department, the Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to patients experiencing acute psychiatric or behavioral health crises. This position blends emergency nursing with behavioral health expertise to support patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
What You Will Do
- Engage in didactic learning sessions designed to enhance your understanding of Emergency Department (ED) nursing, with a focus on utilizing a state-of-the-art simulation lab.
- Apply critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity and complex patients effectively.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide safe, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
- Pursue certification as a trauma nurse, with opportunities for professional growth in a Level 2 Trauma Center.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.Valid RN license in Connecticut
- The ideal candidate will have one or more years of Behavioral Health experience in the Emergency Room setting.
Preferred:
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
Important Consideration ***
This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training in Behavioral Health nursing. Candidates must be able to function independently in the Behavioral Health section of the Emergency Room.
Position Highlights
- Part-Time: 24 hrs/week – Evening Shift - 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Rotating weekends and holidays
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $36.15 – $59.95/hour
- Pay is based on working RN experience only. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
- Unit-based specialty pay is available for experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
