Position Purpose
At Saint Francis Hospital, the Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a frontline nursing leader for the Inpatient Trauma Unit, supporting the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing a wide range of surgical and trauma-related conditions. This includes abdominal trauma, orthopedic trauma, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, and neurosurgery patients.
Working in partnership with the Nurse Manager, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams, the Assistant Nurse Manager helps lead daily operations, supports nursing excellence, promotes colleague engagement, and ensures the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient experience.
What You Will Do
- Hours: two 8-hour shifts and two12-hours shifts.
- Shifts: Off shift and weekends
- Off shift can include split shifts, evening, or nights.
- Support the operational, clinical, and leadership functions of the Inpatient Trauma Unit.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Provide frontline supervision, guidance, coaching, and support to nursing and support staff.
- Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, patient throughput, and resource management to ensure efficient unit operations.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in performance management, employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum 2–3 years of acute care nursing experience.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Connecticut or multistate
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous acute care and/or medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Prior leadership, charge nurse, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
- Experience within trauma, surgical, or inpatient acute care settings preferred.

$44.05 - $70.50 per hour
Pay is based on experience, education, skills, certifications, and internal equity. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be compensated on a salary basis equivalent to the stated hourly range. Geographic differentials may apply.
