Nursery care includes care for newborn until discharge status by clinically competent staff. Pediatric clinically competent staff provides care to patients neonate through age of fourteen._ _GI Lab Unit cares for toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult by clinically competent staff._ _Behavioral Health and Geropsychiatric Unit cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff._ _Emergency Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric and high risk adult care._ _Acute Rehab Unit provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff._ Able to work at least eight hours per pay-period. May work shift in increments of 4, 8, 10 and 12 hours as assigned. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. #### Responsibilities - Assists in providing nursing care to patients under general supervision. - Assists in assessment of physical, psychological and social dimensions of patients. - Assists in planning and implementing a formal plan of patient care. - Assists in evaluating nursing care provided. - Implements/documents clinical and technical aspects of care assignment in accordance with established policies and procedures and validated skills performance standards. - Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet patients' needs. - Signs documentation that reflects role of nurse extern - Reinforces patient/family instruction as identified in care plan. - Assists/performs non-invasive and non-sterile treatments and procedures with attention to accuracy as delineated in nurse extern skills list. - Informs RN preceptor/designee team leader of patient changing conditions and other pertinent observations. #### Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, professional nursing (RN) program. Must be entering their final clinical practicum rotation in nursing school. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab. Skills checklist may be used to validate experience. REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): - Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire. - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position if working in the ED or Behavioral Health Area.
