Job Description

Shriners Children’s Boston is seeking an experienced PRN Nurse Practitioner to provide outpatient coverage within our Burn Program. This role serves as a key member of a specialized multidisciplinary team caring for pediatric patients with acute burn injuries, scar management needs, and complex tissue reconstruction concerns. The Nurse Practitioner will manage an independent patient schedule and provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care for approximately 15-20 patients per day.

The PRN Nurse Practitioner will support a variety of outpatient clinical services, including acute burn management for patients with burns generally involving 10% total body surface area or less, scar and tissue management clinics, and completion of pre-operative histories and physicals.

Responsibilities include performing burn assessments, developing treatment plans, overseeing wound care and dressing changes, providing long-term scar management and follow-up care, and performing wound debridement in collaboration with nursing staff. The practitioner will work autonomously following completion of orientation while having the support of experienced advanced practice providers and the broader Burn team.

The ideal candidate is an experienced pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of two years of advanced practice experience and demonstrated ability to practice independently. Candidates with backgrounds in pediatric emergency medicine, urgent care, pediatric intensive care, pediatric surgery, burn care, wound management, or related specialties are encouraged to apply.

This PRN position provides flexible weekday coverage, with shifts typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Coverage needs are greatest on Mondays through Wednesdays and may include both planned and short-notice coverage for team member absences. PRN providers are expected to maintain a minimum availability of one shift per month, with opportunities for additional hours based on departmental needs. No weekend, holiday, or call responsibilities are required.

The hourly compensation range for this position is $54.58 to $93.56 per hour. Placement within the range is determined by factors such as years of advanced practice experience, relevant qualifications, specialized clinical expertise, and internal departmental equity.
