Job Description: The Structural Heart Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice nurse who provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, and follow-up care for patients with structural heart disease. Working autonomously and collaboratively within the Structural Heart Team, the NP manages patients throughout the care continuum, from referral and pre-procedural assessment to post-procedural follow-up. The NP supports patients undergoing structural heart interventions, including but not limited to TAVI/TAVR, LAAO, TEER, MitraClip, and other advanced structural heart therapies. In partnership with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and community providers, the NP advances patient outcomes through clinical care, education, quality improvement, research, and patient advocacy.

Experience:

  • Five (5) full-time years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Two years (2) full-time experience working in cardiology

Education:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • Masters Degree in Nursing with clinical specialization appropriate to the practice area
  • Canadian Nursing Association Certification in clinical practice area

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Enhanced knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses and stable chronic diseases as well as cardiovascular disease and heart failure
  • Knowledge and application of leadership strategies in order to lead, encourage, advise and collaborate with colleagues to achieve client/patient, team and organizational goals within available resources
  • Knowledge and application of advanced communications strategies and approaches to adapt to multiple and ever changing situations and environments
  • Knowledge and application of community development and facilitation strategies

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) and licensed as RN(NP)
