Our Emergency Department provides the most advanced and personalized emergency medical care possible to every patient who comes through our doors. Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston is designated as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and also a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, offering the highest level of trauma care24/7.


We care for nearly 60,000 patients each year (365 days a year and 24 hours a day), serving people from throughout the city of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and New England.


As a Level I Trauma Center, we offer:
• 24/7 in-house trauma surgeons and a multidisciplinary team including neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and more.
• Emergency resuscitation, definitive surgical care, and advanced critical care for any injury severity.
• State-of-the-art diagnostics (CT, MRI, advanced imaging) and multiple operating rooms.
• Specialized units such as surgical critical care and burn care.
• Research, education, and injury prevention programs to advance trauma care.
• Regional referral hub for complex cases from across Massachusetts and New England.


The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The Registered Nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing required
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse required
  • 2+ Years RN experience required
  • Emergency Dept experience preferred
  • ACLS/BLS Required
  • TNCC
  • Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is encouraged.
