The 13 bays are setup for the preoperative patient, and Intensive Care Monitoring for the postoperative patient. The design of the PACU is set up in a way to allow quick movement into and out of the operating suites. **POSITION SUMMARY:** As an RN in the Moakley PACU you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care to both adult and pediatric patients. Using a patient-centered care model you will be elevated by a supportive nursing organization. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients - Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families - Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues - Update and manage patient records - Enter and interpret computerized data/information - Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization - Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects **JOB REQUIREMENTS**: - Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. - Certification in basic life support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiac Life support **(**ACLS) certification required in certain units - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years - Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Physical ability to meet job responsibilities - Basic computer proficiency - Fluency in another language a plus **EXPERIENCE:** - 1 + years of nursing experience required - Critical Care experience required (PACU, ED, ICU) - Previous/Current PACU experience strongly preferred [Boston Medical Center](https://jobs.bmc.org/) is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
